Image of Boswell Elementary

Originally opened in 1959, the school now known as Boswell Elementary began its life as Mark Twain Elementary. It was designed as a traditional neighborhood school, serving students from kindergarten through the sixth grade. For nearly three decades, it served this purpose, becoming a cornerstone of the community.

A significant shift occurred around 1988. The Lebanon School District restructured its elementary system, and Mark Twain Elementary was transformed into a grade-level center, exclusively serving all of the District's fourth and fifth-grade students. Coinciding with this change in function, the school was renamed Boswell Elementary.

Over the years, the building has undergone several expansions to accommodate the growing student population and evolving educational needs. The most recent and notable addition was completed in August 2025, which saw the construction of six new classrooms, further modernizing the facility and expanding its capacity. It couldn't have been done without the help of the Lebanon Community for passing Proposition Lebanon 4, a $41 million no-tax levy increase bond issue.
